Rosebud – Mallory Burns

A clenched fist withholding
morning dew,
waits for bright fingertips
to weave through
green, dancing whispers.
Laden with a muffled song
folded in its petals,
the firm grip opens—
releasing a graceful leap
towards long,
sloping mists.
Pulling forth
an intensity of tone,
it lends its careful strength
to the rising day.
